Michael T. Atkins
Michael T. Atkins has been a resident of Alabama for over 30 years and an artist since he could pick up a pencil. He uses his childhood and past traumas as inspiration for fueling his passion for painting.
A late bloomer with a lack of formal artistic training, Michael has achieved his dreams as an artist through persistence and hard work. His techniques convey a sense of harmony with rich, vibrant hues and thought-provoking tactile surfaces that fill each memory.
As a child, Michael received prizes for his natural talent. He was awarded tuition and the opportunity to attend the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) to advance his unique creative abilities. In a very short time, Michael has made a name for himself among celebrities and collectors alike. He has many exhibitions, including those at the Grand Bohemian Art Gallery Mountain Brook “An Evening of Art and Soul.”
Michael’s artwork is included in numerous private art collections throughout the U.S., such as Dr. Bill Cosby. He has also created many commissioned works of art.

Studio-based, he works primarily with acrylic on canvas, in which his realistic depictions and intuitive process is able to produce majestic impressions that are spontaneous, passionate, and innovative. With the freedom to experiment and create from the heart, he captures the subject. Having had no professional art training, he ignores rules to form a perspective that's colorful, value shifting, and multi-layered.
